Contractors can now submit bids for the proposed Cavalier Park project in the Town of Culver.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members Tuesday night that the bid deadline is May 28. Bids will be opened that evening during the Culver Town Council meeting.
The estimated base bid is a bit higher than what the town has committed to the project, but the gap will be closed as the project moves forward.
This project includes improvements to the soccer fields on the grounds of the Culver Community School Corporation, expanding the parking lots, moving the stormwater retention pond to the east, building a restroom facility near the fields, adding a toddler park, and a walking trail on the perimeter of the park.
Leist said previously that the walking trail may be bid as an alternate project to help bring down the overall cost of the project. The playground equipment at the Culver Town Park, entry sign for the Cavalier Park, and the amount of grading and reseeding on the upgraded soccer fields may also be bid as alternate projects.
The grant funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs is about $500,000. Construction on Cavalier Park may begin yet this fall.
