Marshall County Commissioners Discuss Upcoming Road Work around Courthouse

Curb and road resurfacing work will be done directly around the Marshall County Courthouse this month which may cause traffic issues.

Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said Walsh and Kelly crews will start removing old sidewalk curbs and installing ADA compliant concrete curbs on Walnut Street on Monday, April 15 and move to Madison Street on Thursday, April 18.

The roads will then be repaved.  Milling work on Walnut Street will begin on April 30 and then on Madison Street on May 1, according to Marquardt.

The scheduling is dependent on the weather.

Marshall County Commissioner Mike Delp asked that the courthouse employees receive information about the construction so action can be taken to create a smoother avenue to work.  He said there will be access to the parking lots, but it will be a bit of an issue while improvements are being made.

The road work will also affect early voting at the Marshall County Clerk’s Office which is in the Courthouse Annex portion of the complex.  Potential voters are asked to keep that in mind.  Early voting begins Tuesday, April 9 and continues Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the clerk’s office.  Two satellite locations will be at the Bremen Town Hall and Culver Town Hall on Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
