The Marshall County Commissioners met in special session Wednesday morning to appoint a new Maintenance Director at the Marshall County Jail.
John Greer was appointed into the position to replace Gary Masterson who is transferring to the Marshall County Highway Department.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer said only one application was submitted for the position and it was Greer. The commissioners agreed that he would be a good fit for the position. Greer has been with the county for about four years and knows the job requirements.
Greer told MAX 98.3 FM News that he will still help out at the county buildings when it’s needed. He will focus on the needs at the jail and ensure things continue to work well.
The roof-top units that heat and cool the sheriff’s department are an immediate concern. They’re starting to reach their end of life and will soon need to be replaced. A plan for replacement is being discussed.
