The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed a contract from Cardno on Monday for the Hickory Bridge wetland mitigation site.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger told the commissioners this week that the company is offering services to monitor and maintain the site for about three years as part of the new bridge contract.
“The wetlands area requires monitoring by somebody to report to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. You can’t have an invasive species in the wetlands. You’ve got to get them out of there,” commented Clevenger.
The Hickory Road bridge project was complete last year by late summer.
The commissioners did not immediately approve the contract as there are some minor changes needed in the contract and Insurance Consultant Mike Miley needs to review the paperwork for input as well. The paperwork is anticipated to be approved and signed at their next meeting on Monday, April 15.
