The Culver Town Council members took action this week to get a step closer in order for The Paddocks to be eligible for tax abatement.
“The Paddocks” is the second phase of a housing project following the completion of the Sand Hill Farms workforce housing development project on West Jefferson Street in Culver. “The Paddocks” will feature 48 units of housing in six buildings, including 12 two-bedroom and 36 three-bedroom units. Half of all units will be rent-to-own townhomes while the others will be bedroom units.
Several steps need to be taken in the tax abatement process. The council first took steps to declare the area as an Economic Target Area and then on Tuesday night, they approved a declaratory resolution do the area is an Economic Revitalization Area. The last step in the process is to approve an ordinance that does approve tax abatement for The Paddocks.
The council members voted 4-1 to approve the resolution for the Economic Revitalization Area. The confirming resolution will be considered at the next meeting.
