The property that the Bremen Town Council members want to purchase for a future project will be going to the sheriff’s sale.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner told the Bremen Town Council members on Monday that it is not scheduled yet for the sheriff’s sale, but that’s where it is headed. He reminded the council that a resolution was previously passed that allows Director of Operations Trend Weldy to make an offer on the property while at the sale.
Wagner noted that this is the best scenario for the town as it’s been difficult to go through negotiations with creditors over the foreclosed property. If the bank happens to get the property back, the town may be able to still purchase the property at a reasonable rate.
The Bremen Town Council members hope to purchase the property in order to demolish the house there and create a gathering space. Initial plans are to build a roofed pavilion there in order to include another spot in town with a sheltered place for the farmer’s market or another location for community events.
