Bremen Schools to Implement Pre-K Program, Renovations Needed

Officials at the Bremen Public School Corporation will launch the On My Way Pre-K program at the Elementary School this fall.

Superintendent Dr. Jim White said the corporation is the recipient of a $100,000 grant to help renovate an area of the Elementary School to accommodate classes with another $60,000 for teacher salaries.

Dr. White will ask for additional funds from the Bremen Redevelopment Commission to help cover a shortfall of funds.

“We have a bathroom and an office area that is not in use right now so we either need to renovate them to be bathrooms again or re-purpose them to be something else,” said Dr. White.  “They’re adjacent to our existing preschool area so it just seems like a good fit to renovate.  Hopefully we’ll have all those younger students in one spot.

“Unfortunately, the $100,000 just won’t renovate the area we need to renovate and so that’s why I’m approaching the Redevelopment Commission to make this a reality.”

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told the Bremen Town Council members this week that the meeting has not been scheduled, but will notify them when a date is set.
