Tenants Occupy New Housing Development in Plymouth

There are tenants occupying apartments in the first River Gate South complex.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi told the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members Tuesday night that work on the other two buildings continue.  City officials and the fire chief worked through some last minute issues before the residents moved in.

The second and third buildings are anticipated to open in early spring or summer.  Surrisi said solid crews are working to open them as soon as March or April, a goal that Surrisi believes is very optimistic.

The River Gate South apartment complexes are located at the corner of Lake Street and Michigan Street in Plymouth.  Each floor plan is different and 39 apartments will be completed soon in three different buildings.  River Gate South was proposed as a workforce housing need to help increase economic health and stability.

Funding for the project was made available through the Regional Cities Initiative while the City of Plymouth also committed funds seeing this as an opportunity to help advance the community.
