Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters gave the commissioners an update on funds.
The Motor Vehicle Highway and Local Roads and Streets distributions come monthly. Peters said in January, MVH was about $351,500 while Local Roads and Streets was nearly $66,000. When compared to 2018, the county received almost $42,000 less in January.
February’s figures show a downward trend also.
“MVH was $342,483.65 and Local Roads and Streets was $63,703.90,” explained Peters. “MVH would be down $14,627.47 from last year while Local Roads and Streets would be down $2,613.75. Combined we’d be down from last year at $17,241.22.”
In other business, Peters asked what type of financing the commissioners want for the new distributor and chipper box through Republican First National. The chipper box was quoted at $313,500 while the distributor truck was at $227,800 from Southeastern.
“We have a five-year term for $119,718.34 or a seven-year term for $88,612.78.”
The funds would come from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund. Both options have interest rates a little over 3 percent.
The commissioners and Auditor Julie Fox are going to look at numbers a little more closely in that fund before making a firm decision.
