The Marshall County Commissioners approved a new member on the Board of Directors of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC).
Roger Umbaugh announced his resignation effective March 1. Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said Umbaugh served as chairman of the board for many years of his volunteer service with MCEDC. He was one of the first members of the board when it was created.
It was recommended that the commissioners appoint Jennifer Martin who has a long list of successful business attributes including becoming the president at Country Auto in 2013. Overmyer said that she’d be a great addition to the board and bring more diversity as well.
Commissioner Mike Delp noted that Martin doesn’t live in Marshall County and felt that Umbaugh’s successor should be from Marshall County.
When it came to a final vote, Commissioner Overmyer and Commissioner Stan Klotz voted in favor of appointing Martin to the MCEDC board while Commissioner Delp did not support the vote.
Martin will complete Umbaugh’s term that is set to run through December 2020.
