Highway Superintendent Gives Update after Arctic Blast

January proved to be a challenging month with weather, but Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the county commissioners Monday morning that everything ran as smoothly as could be expected during the sub-zero temperatures experienced.

“I think for the most part we kept up with everything,” said Peters.  “Based on the conditions we had and how well the equipment held together I think we’ve done fairly well.  Going through that I think everybody was kind of on board on what to anticipate and overall I think everybody did a great job.”

There were no “drastic calls” to the highway department.

Now that the weather has warmed above freezing, there are some areas of standing water and Peters urges motorists to use caution when driving in those areas.

There are minor areas of flooding now which Peters said the highway department will tackle next.

The commissioners thanked the staff at the highway department for their hard work during the harsh elements.
