The Bremen Town Council members are still working toward purchasing the property at 121 S. Jackson Street.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said Monday night that Marshall County Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt asked that the electric be turned on at the residence in order to accommodate a bank-hired crew watching the house. Weldy said the electric was not turned on due to the current dilapidated state of the home. He thought it would be too dangerous to do so.
In the meantime, Town Attorney Anthony Wagner noted that the home still hasn’t sold. The Town Council members hope to purchase it in order to demolish it and create a gathering space. Initial plans are to build a roofed pavilion there in order to include another spot in town with a sheltered place for the farmer’s market or another location for community events.
The property is currently is in foreclosure proceedings.
