Volunteers Work on David’s Courage Facility

Volunteers are continuing to work on the former Shady Rest Home facility in Plymouth in order to begin welcoming clients to the David’s Courage program.

Officials behind David’s Courage inception have posted the progress on many upgrades occurring at the building on their Facebook page.  The facility will house residents who are seeking a life free of substance abuse.  The property was recently a Lowe’s Heroes project where Lowe’s employees team up and adopt a volunteer project with local nonprofit organizations and schools.  Upgrades include new flooring, paint, and a security system throughout the grounds.

Officials hope to open the doors this year to those battling addictions.

David’s Courage aims at assisting recovering addicts for six to nine months on getting a job, completing treatment, conducting community service, and obtaining other life and job skills. Clients will be recommended for programs by the staff at Marshall County Community Corrections or on a case-by-case basis by David’s Courage staff.

The transfer of the county’s ownership of the former Shady Rest building at 10974 Lincoln Highway to officials with David’s Courage was made final in May of 2018.
