The overall lift station project in the Town of Bremen is about ready for the second phase.
The first phase was recently completed where work was done at the Water Street lift station. Ken Jones from JPR asked the Bremen Town Council to approve a pay order of $140,926 which was approved.
The town council members then approved a change order that reduced the entire project by $53,000. Jones explained that several big ticket items were eliminated from the plans which resulted in the reduction. The contract is now about $640,000.
Engineering plans are ready for the second phase of the lift station project. A review session will be set soon and then authorization will be sought at the council’s next meeting on Jan. 28 for bids for this additional phase.
The initial estimate for the second phase is around $750,000, but Jones said updated figures will be presented during the Jan. 28 meeting.
About seven lift stations will be replaced this year which will bring the town’s 14 lift stations into updated regulations. Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy previously said the lift stations being replaced are about 40 to 50 years old.
