The Marshall County Council members took action to approve a grant application request for the state’s Broadband Readiness Grant Program. The action was ratified as last year’s grant application window was brief. The approval has to be included in the minutes of the meeting.
Marshall County Commission President Kevin Overmyer said the county was awarded a $50,000 grant to hire a consultant who would come in and work with the county to define broadband infrastructure, where that infrastructure lacks within the communities, and to get everything up to date to serve the community. Overmyer said the county will work with an engineer from Purdue University to work on the feasibility study.
A $5,500 match is needed which will go toward the grant writing services of Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources.
The council approved the request with a unanimous vote.
