Marshall County Commissioners Discuss Building Appraisal Contract

The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed a contract with Industrial Appraisal to perform an appraisal of all county buildings.

Consultant Mike Miley recommended that the commissioners move forward with the project.  It’s been about 18 years since the last appraisal was done.

Miley also recommended including the equipment modeling approach appraisals.  That would entail reviewing all county office equipment as it’s fairly extensive. This does not include heavy equipment such as vehicles or highway department equipment. An annual re-evaluation would not be needed with this aspect.

A question about the David’s Courage building and its inclusion into the contract as it was once a county-owned building, but Miley will look into that.  Miley was sure that the officials there have the insurance on the building that would cover any needs.

The cost of the contract of $4,999, along with the additional office equipment appraisal cost of $1,845, was approved by the commissioners.  Sixty percent of that amount would be paid upfront and the balance would be due at the completion of services.   The annual re-evaluation service would be $300 each year for three years.
