Argos Officials Issue Pet Registration Reminder

Argos officials are reminding pet-owning residents that pet tags are now available at the Clerk’s Office.

Under the Town’s current municipal code, “any person owning, keeping, harboring, or having custody of any dog or cat over the age of six months must obtain a pet registration for that animal.”

According to a notification posted on TownOfArgos.com, residents should bring in shot records from their veterinarian and let the Clerk’s office know if their pet has been spayed and neutered.

No registration shall be issued for a dog or cat unless the animal owner can provide proof of current and effective rabies vaccination.

The code notes that notes that pet owners will receive a durable tag stamped with a registration number and the year of issuance for each registration granted. Pets are required to wear their tags at all times except when involved in any organized show or obedience demonstration.

They may also be removed if the animal is properly kenneled or in the care of a licensed veterinarian.

If you have any questions about pet registration, contact the Clerk’s Office at 574-892-5717.
