Marshall County Community Foundation Receives $500,000 Grant for Gift Matching Opportunities

Donations to the Marshall County Community Foundation will now be able to go further, thanks to the Lilly Endowment.

The foundation has received a $500,000 grant, as part of the seventh phase of the endowment’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) initiative, according to a foundation press release. That grant means that every dollar contributed to one of the foundation’s unrestricted endowments between now and the end of next year will receive a two-dollar match. Additionally, every dollar the community foundation raises for specific community or charitable projects, as well as its own operating needs, will get a 50-cent match.

Foundation officials say there’s also the potential for even more grant opportunities from the Lilly Endowment. If the Marshall County Community Foundation achieves 100-percent financial support from its board of directors between January 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020, the endowment will award an additional $100,000 unrestricted grant.

On top of that, the community foundation will be able to apply for community leadership grants, starting in 2019. That component of the GIFT VII initiative will provide funding for planning and implementation for efforts to enhance Marshall County’s quality of life.
