Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger reviewed a proposed contract for inmate medical services with Quality Correctional Care with the Marshall County Commissioners this week as this agency offers great opportunities for travel nurses which will be quite useful to set up their permanent employment with them.
The county entered into a four-year agreement with Quality Correctional Care in 2014 with the contract to end Dec. 31.
Clevenger said the contract includes one physician visit per week, one mental health care provider visit per week, a nursing staff that works 40 hours a week, one nurse administrator visit per week, and 24/7 telecommunication with a physician or mental health professional.
The compensation will increase to an annual cost of $167,410 in monthly installments which is about a $14,000 increase from the current contract. Just like the current contract, the contract is for four years with automatic renewal, but the county can terminate the contract without cause with 30 days notice.
Clevenger noted that it includes mutual indemnification provisions.
The county attorney will discuss the proposed contract with Sheriff Matt Hassel before the commissioners take action to approve it. The approval is expected to occur at the commissioners’ first meeting of the new year.
