The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed the sheriff’s contract when they met last week.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger said the Auditor’s Office shared information with him concerning what was approved by the county council for the sheriff’s salary and the salary ordinance for 2019.
Clevenger noted that other than the salary update and the calendar year listed in the contract, language is the same as in 2018. He did make contact with Sheriff Matt Hassel concerning the contract and there were no discrepancies.
The commissioners unanimously approved a motion to allow Commission President Kevin Overmyer to sign the contract. Sheriff Hassel is also expected to sign the contract in preparation for the new year. The salary is in the amount of $89,071.10.
