A public hearing over the Town of Argos’ farm lease was held when council members met earlier this month. Members went on to unanimously approve a resolution which accepted the farm lease as presented later in the meeting.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that this is something that Town officials review every year. However, there was a bit of a change with the lease that was up for approval this time around.
When the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation constructed the Manufacturing Center on Dewey Street they took ownership of about 17 acres of that land which reduced the amount of acreage that can be offered to farmers.
Mullaney said the lease is now for approximately 54 acres. She noted that the bidding process for the Town-owned property is open to the public. Bids are due by the council’s next meeting on Wednesday, December 5th. They can be turned in to the Argos Town Building, located at 201 West Walnut Street.
