The Town of Culver is a recipient of grant money from the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Community Crossings grant match program.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim said the town received about $282,600 of which the town will pay 25 percent in matching funds. The projects include paving projects on Lake Shore Drive, School Street, Slate Street (plus the curb), Nueva Gorda Street, and Batabano Street with sidewalks.
Meanwhile, several paving projects that were scheduled to be complete this year were put on hold until next spring. Heim said the weather turned colder sooner in November than expected. The contractor suggested waiting until the asphalt plants open in the spring for a better quality of asphalt. The town won’t be charged an additional fee when the contractor can return to set up operations.
