The five finalists in the Regional Stellar Communities Designation process completed the last step before state officials announce the designee.
Each leadership team presented an executive summary of the Regional Development Plan to Office of Community and Rural Affairs officials and the state stellar partner agencies in the last week. According to OCRA, the plan is a four-year comprehensive community revitalization strategy that identifies projects, an implementation schedule, cost, funding resources, and the significance of each project to the community.
The region designated a Stellar Community will help communities utilize previous planning efforts, leverage existing assets, foster regional investments and stimulate continued growth. Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development will assist the designated regions with long-term sustainability efforts and project implementation.
Marshall County Crossroads is one of the five finalists seeking a regional designation. Two regions will be designated on Monday, Dec. 10.
