Plymouth Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project Done

Crews from Kokosing Industrial have completed the punch list items on the Plymouth Wastewater Treatment Facility renovations.

There was a change order presented by Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson to the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members this week. It was deduction in the amount of $14,000 which brought the total cost of the project at about $10.8 million.

The improvements included structure updates, tower renovations, addition of a new aeration tank and a second clarifier, recoating of existing primary and secondary clarifiers, new standby generator, data control systems improvements, and the installation of a new centrifuge sludge dewatering building, among others.

Davidson added that the company is requesting the release of the retainage for the project in the amount of about $18,700. The board did approve the request with a unanimous vote.

Davidson mentioned that the city was able to save about $100,000 in unused engineering fees as many of the inspections and other tasks were done by city employees in this project and in other water projects. Any work that the city employees could do to assist the contractor was credited to the city. At the same time, more items were added to the list that they didn’t think were able to afford in the project.
