Marshall County Council members considered salary ordinance amendments for the Prosecutor’s Office as well as the Probation Department when they met Tuesday morning.
Council President Judy Stone explained that the amendment for the Prosecutor’s Office just had to do with the pre-trial diversion officer’s wage that was inadvertently left off of the salary ordinance. They just needed to amend the ordinance to include it.
It was noted that the wage is paid out of the Prosecutor Office’s pre-trial diversion fund, not the general fund. Auditor Julie Fox added that it would be retroactive to July 1st. Members unanimously approved that amendment.
The amendment for the Probation Department was related to a recent retirement. Auditor Fox stated that an officer in the probation department retired and due to his years of experience, he had racked up a wage of $34.17 per hour.
She went on to say that now that they’ll be hiring in someone else with a little less experience, the wage needs to be adjusted to reflect that. The adjusted wage for the 2018 Salary Ordinance was $18.58 per hour and in 2019 it will be $18.97.
That amendment was also unanimously approved by the county council members.
