The Marshall County Commissioners took action last week to amend the county’s safety plan.
Commissioner Mike Delp explained the tornado safety recommendation made by the county’s safety committee.
“The main thing, in this building, it says go down to the first floor and line up along the west side of the wall away from the doors,” explained Delp. “The basement has been cleaned out now so we’ve got an area down there where we can get easily 50, 60, and even 70 people down there, I think, in the northeast corner of the basement. That’s going to be our first recommendation. The second recommendation will be the first floor of the stairwells. Then, if there is an overflow, I think those two places would cover it.”
Delp added that some other minor adjustments were also made to the plan. With that, the commissioners unanimously approved the amendment to the Safety Procedures and Emergency Protective Measures Plan.
