The Bremen Town Council members are looking for residents to be part of a committee to go through a planning grant received for the proposed 2020 downtown revitalization project.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the committee will work with The Troyer Group in this process.
“I’m trying to get a group together here in the next couple of weeks, six to eight people, to be on that committee to help go through this planning grant and make sure we’re getting what we want as the Town of Bremen. This is for the final design for the project in 2020.”
The downtown revitalization project includes new streets, sidewalks, curbs and lighting.
INDOT has already earmarked $1.2 million for this project which includes lowering the streets 12 inches in the downtown area. Weldy previously said that INDOT has come in and laid more asphalt than was milled off over the years so all of the curbing is gone. It’s caused flooding issues in all of the businesses.
The planning grant awarded is in the amount of $45,000 with the town’s match at $5,000.
