Bourbon Officials Plan to Reapply for Community Crossings Grant in January

The Town of Bourbon did not receive any funds from the Community Crossings Grant during the most recent round. Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger informed Town Council members about what their next move should be when they met Wednesday evening.

She noted that once she found out the town did not receive the grant funds she called the Town’s point of contact at the Indiana Department of Transportation.

She explained, “I reached out to Marcia Blansett and she encouraged me to reapply in January because they’re doing it in two different rounds.”

Street Superintendent Roger Terry mentioned that the Town applied for approximately $400,000 in this most recent round and they’ll be requesting the same amount when they reapply.

In addition to talking with the INDOT official, Clerk-Treasurer Berger also reached out to a representative from the engineering firm JPR. She said they’re the company that worked on the grant application that was submitted and their services cost the Town approximately $15,000.

Berger was informed that they would make any necessary amendments and re-submit the application in January for no additional charge.
