Plymouth Municipal Airport officials and the instructors of the Alpha Flight invited prospective aviation students and members of the public to learn more about a new class available to high school students in the 2019-2020 school year.
Director of Career and Technical Education Albert Hanselman said students in the 10 schools affiliated with CTE will have the chance to be a part of this unique opportunity.
“Beginning next year we’ll start with aviation flight and we want that to lead into aviation operations where students will learn about what happens in the airport, on the ground and behind the scenes,” said Hanselman. We hope that in the future it springboards into an aviation maintenance program where we actually have students here who want to work on the airplanes and do things like that.”
Alpha Flight co-owners, pilots Dan Marohn and Ken Norris, have an immense knowledge about aeronautics and plan to provide one of the most prestigious aviation training courses in the region.
By next summer, four aircraft will be available for training with the potential for eight flight instructors and two ground school instructors. A simulator will also be available for training purposes, in partnership with Culver Military Academy.
