The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members were updated on a Comcast project where a pipe to house cable was installed prior to a work permit and installed incorrectly.
City Engineer Rick Gaul confirmed that the work was redone to specifications. He added that the city is currently holding the financial guarantee pending paperwork that may include a fine reduction request. Comcast has provided several documents to show what work was done to correct the issue.
At a prior meeting, the board members approved a daily fine of $2,500 for as long as the work was not corrected. Gaul said the issue was corrected about three weeks ago. As of the last meeting on Monday, Oct. 8, City Attorney Sean Surrisi noted that the fine was up to $107,500 and he was waiting to hear from the company as to a request to reduce the fine. He had not heard anything as of last week’s meeting. He will update the board on communications at their next meeting on Monday, Oct. 22.
