Marshall County Stellar Officials Preparing State Presentation

The members of the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative are getting ready to present their projects to officials from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

Bremen, Bourbon, Argos and Culver Town Council officials discussed the timeline of the process during their recent meetings. Representatives from the committee will review what is needed during the presentation and hold several practice sessions between now and Nov. 15 as there is an allotted time in which to produce all of the information needed to convince the panel to choose Marshall County as a Regional Stellar Community.

The Town of Argos will submit plans for the installation of a series of trails, a housing development and the addition of more sidewalks. The Town of Bourbon is planning a housing development to the east of the high school and an economic development project to the north of town, just south of U.S. 30. The Town of Bremen hopes to build a new pool and develop a community gathering space. The Town of Culver is anticipating the designation to present funds to complete the third phase of the Lake Maxinkuckee bike and walking trail. Town of Lapaz officials want to extend public infrastructure to the proposed development parcels. The City of Plymouth is including the renovation of the Rees Theater. Marshall County officials are looking to increase workforce recruitment and a branding and marketing plan.

The presentation is set for Thursday, Nov. 15 in Indianapolis.
