Marshall County Commissioners Sign Contract for LED Lighting Upgrade

The Marshall County Commissioners are taking measures to save the county money in energy costs.

They took action Monday to allow Commission President Kevin Overmyer to sign a contract with Telemon Energy Corporation in order to upgrade to LED lighting in the Marshall County Building, Marshall County Courthouse and the engineering buildings.

Commissioner Mike Delp said there are 2,911 bulbs that will be changed. He said if some have already been changed then they won’t be included in the cost. Telemon representatives will check with the county’s maintenance department to determine the official count before the order is placed.

The contract is for $73,500. A NIPSCO rebate will take it down to $64,200.

When the project is complete, the county should realize energy savings in the amount of $30,000 a year.

The commissioners have funds for the project, but they will confer with Auditor Julie Fox and the county council members to determine the proper line items in order to transfer funds.
