Two representatives from different companies presented service contracts last week for consideration by the Marshall County Commissioners.
Jeff Kemper from Dossett Consulting presented a cost allocation plan in order to assist Auditor Julie Fox to claim indirect costs which are eligible for reimbursement by state and federal grants. It pertains to the IV-D Funds within the prosecutor’s budget.
Fox noted that the county has worked with Maximus for this type of assistance for years. The commissioners felt that maybe it was time for a change especially with an exit interview. They unanimously approved a three-year contract with Dossett Consulting. County Attorney Jim Clevenger was quick to say that the contract was for less money than what the previous company charged.
The contract will begin Jan. 1.
The other contract proposal was made by Michael Morin with BIS Digital. The company specializes in audio and visual recording software. He said it will help with the auditor’s recording of the minutes.
New microphones would be installed as well as TV monitors at the front and rear of the meeting room so it’s easier for commissioners, council members and audience participants to hear presentations and see projected information. He said any materials given to the commissioners could be shown on all of the screens. With the new technology offered, those materials would be saved as part of the minutes of the meeting as it’s presented. That would ease some of the work for the auditor.
The meetings could be video recorded and uploaded to YouTube in order for residents to view meeting information at their leisure.
The cost of the upgrades is about $72,500.
The commissioners decided to table a decision in order to carefully review all of the information provided and to determine from what fund the money will come to pay for the upgrades.
