The Culver Town Council members decided to hold a work session in November to go over the possible rate increases for the EMS Department.
Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe explained that there are different levels of care and services the EMS staff provides: Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, ALS treatment, no transport, mileage and employee transport. The rates range from $50 to $850 depending on the need.
EMS Director Kathy Hart presented numbers for a possible 20 percent increase and a 25 percent increase. To compare rates, Hart included fees from Starke County and the City of Plymouth.
Munroe suggested waiting on any decisions until after the November General Election so the newly elected candidates can be in on the discussion. The fees would have to be included in an amended fee ordinance subject to advertisement and public hearing.
The work session will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the Culver Town Hall. It will precede the town council’s regular meeting that night.
