Plymouth City Council Approves 2019 Salary Ordinance

The Plymouth City Council members held discussion on the 2019 salary ordinance last week.

Council member Gary Cook asked to amend the salary ordinance to reflect the addition of an assistant manager at the Plymouth Municipal Airport under the Aviation line item at a rate of $20 per hour. The laborer position would then be unfunded, but the rate of pay will be listed at $18.55 for future reference.

It was noted that if Airport Manager Bill Sheley ever needed to hire a laborer, then that line item with that pay would be available in the budget. A job description will be created for the newly created position of assistant manager.

With that, the council members unanimously approved the amendment and the second and third reading of the amended ordinance.

The ordinance calls for a two-percent increase for all appointed officers and employees, fire and police personnel for the 2019 budget year, with the exception just mentioned.
