The Marshall County Council agreed Monday to let the Highway Department proceed with this year’s Community Crossings grant application.
Roads that would be upgraded include Dogwood Road from the county line to State Road 331, 11th Road from South Michigan Street to U.S. 31, and North Michigan Street from the Plymouth City Limits to Veterans Parkway. The total cost would be $1,330,000, according to Highway Supervisor Jason Peters. If approved, seventy-five percent of that would be covered by the grant. The county council agreed to cover the remaining $332,500.
Peters said the county’s eligible to apply for up to $1 million in state funding through this year’s Community Crossings grant. But he said that if the county isn’t granted the entire request, it will have the chance to reapply for the rest, during a second call for applications.
