The Culver Town Council members approved a quote from a contractor to demolish the unsafe structure at 808 Obipso Street.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist said Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt received three bids for the demolition of the house. The lowest quote came from Jackson Services at $6,800. He noted that it is a little over budget in the unsafe housing line item for this year, but it’s the first one.
The cost of demolition will be placed as a lien against the property and that cost would be recovered once the land is sold.
That property is one of three that the council is actively pursuing to clean up. The other properties at 438 S. Ohio and 415 Lakeshore Drive are still in legal discussions.
