Highway Department to Seek Bids to Take Down Trees

Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters told the county commissioners this week that he will be gathering bids to take down some trees that are outside the work of his highway crews.

“One of them was on Addison Street which is up at Lake of the Woods,” explained Peters. “It’s a county easement that goes down to the lake. There’s a big Cottonwood on it and it’s starting to lose a lot of limbs. It’s well outside of our workforce to take that down. We’d possibly have to look into subcontracting that out. We also have another one on Muckshaw Road at 11 B. It’s the same thing. There’s a lot of power lines that would be involved in that to bring that tree down. There’s a couple of the on Dee Drive that I think we can get down on our own.”

Commissioner Mike Delp added that one of the limbs on the tree mentioned on Addison Street nearly missed a resident as it fell from the tree. He said there are two at that location that should be removed for safety reasons.

Bids will be presented in a future meeting.
