The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members discussed sidewalk requests during their recent meeting.
Mayor Mark Senter asked if there could be a deadline date of requests for sidewalk repairs as the budget for such requests are drawn up in July or August for the following year. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said there isn’t money to cover all of the requests this year, but requests are brought in almost every week.
The mayor wondered about a cut-off date in the late winter when the street department begins to start thinking about summer operations.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi said there’s value in bringing the requests to the board as the members have liabilities to consider in terms of roadways or sidewalks that the city has. He said it’s also good to have determinations on record as to why a project is accepted or rejected.
The board will review the ordinance to see if any changes are to be made.
