Plymouth Building Commissioner to Take Action on Sycamore Street Home

Plymouth Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds is looking to take action on an unsafe home at 801 Sycamore Street.

Hammonds told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members last week that there are trees growing through the building and the property has not been maintained. He did talk to the owners last year who he said agreed to get the home up to living standards, but the owners did not comply with the request to do so.

Hammonds added that kids have been getting inside the disheveled structure, making noise and causing problems. The neighbors have been chasing them out of the structure for safety reasons. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt interjected that the back door was recently boarded up and the basement was secured to prevent any injuries.

The structure may be advertised for demolition. Hammonds said that a demolition order may come up for the board’s approval at their next meeting.
