The Marshall County Safety Committee is moving forward with purchasing protective film on all of the windows in the Marshall County Building and the Annex.
Committee President Mike Delp told the Marshall County Council members last week that the silver-reflective film will not allow passersby to see inside the building. Delp also said the film acts as an energy savings component as it will keep the heat from the sunshine at a less intense level.
The cost to put film on all of the windows at the Marshall County Building is $26,000. The cost at the annex is just over $5,200.
The safety committee is also looking to purchase automatic door locks for the Marshall County Clerk’s Office in the amount of almost $6,500. According to this link, the window tint and the bullet proof glass have been installed. Auditor Julie Fox also requested an automatic door lock for her office as well, but a quote has not yet been obtained. Councilman Jon VacVactor asked about the treasurer’s office and quotes will be researched to include locks for that office.
Councilwoman Penny Lukenbill asked which line item in the sheriff’s budget will pay for these projects and Delp mentioned that it would be the video and security line item. Auditor Julie Fox will double check the line item to make sure that the fund is titled in a way so that it can support the expenditures. If not, money may need to be transferred to another line item to accommodate the request.
