The Marshall County Commissioners considered a number of requests submitted by Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery when they met Monday morning.
Director Avery told the Commissioners that the Blueberry Festival security requested to use the Emergency Operations Center from August 30th through September 3rd. He explained, “They’ve used it in the past, they’ve been provided access to the building and to that room specifically so they can use the equipment.”
Next, Avery sought permission to attend two events that have no cost associated with them. First he asked to attend the Integrated Public Safety Commission meeting in Kosciusko County on July 11th. He said there will be a few different matters addressed during this meeting.
“Among other things they’re going to talk about upgrades to the 800 megahertz radio system, they’re going to talk about the FirstNet Emergency Response Program.” He went on, “So it might be beneficial. I assume some of the law enforcement agencies and dispatchers will be attending that as well.”
Lastly, the director asked to go to an Indiana Department of Homeland Security Workshop being held in South Bend on July 23rd that deals with Regional Mission Ready Packages.
He explained what that would entail, “Basically, that’s agreements and how those are put together in the event that there’s a request that comes in to deploy, either within the state of Indiana or outside of the state of Indiana, with some of the district resources and assets.”
There was no opposition from Commissioners, so each request was approved unanimously.
