Marshall County Highway Supervisor Jason Peters submitted to the commissioners Monday morning a list of quotes from Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc. for repairs to bridges damaged by the flooding event in February.
A total of 18 bridges are expected to be repaired. Rieth-Riley’s estimated cost of repairs is just over $520,000. Taxes are not included in the pricing and the county will deliver needed rip rap, or stone that is installed on bridge abutments to prevent erosion. The pricing is based on a completion date of Nov. 1.
The quote wasn’t approved, but taken under consideration. Peters said more quotes will be gathered in order to make a final determination.
FEMA has the list of repairs needed, plus other paperwork, and will make a final determination on reimbursement soon on these repairs and others reported by the county highway department. Peters commented that FEMA representatives were at the highway department last week.
“They gathered up the last of the information. They needed the GPS locations for the assessments for all of the culverts, bridges and roads. I think we have all of that submitted to them now,” stated Peters.
