Bremen Town Council members are working toward the creation of a stormwater utility.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the discussion is surrounding a user fee or a bond issue.
“A user fee would be just like a $3.00 a month fee that would go on your bill that everyone would get and then the bond would keep the tax rate the same as what you’re paying now for our wastewater,” explained Weldy. “We looked at an option where we could save $200,000 by not taking out a bond, but then we’d have to wait to get the money that we need to fix some stuff. So, we’re weighing that option.”
The Bremen Town Council will hold further discussion in upcoming meetings.
