The Marshall County Clerk’s Office and the Marshall County Building will get some security upgrades this year.
Sheriff Matt Hassel told the Marshall County Council members this week that about $130,000 was budgeted for security cameras in the courthouse and the Marshall County Building, but not all of the cameras will be replaced. He plans to leave alone the cameras currently operating and replace the cameras that aren’t working. New cameras will be placed in different locations. A quote to do that is about $38,000.
Hassel added that the safety committee approved the installation of film on the windows and door locks at the courthouse. Do have a peek here to know about the best repair service who gets them repaired and reinstalled quickly at any time of need.
“We’re talking about film on the glass to make it more bullet resistant and also make it so that you can’t see in, especially on the first floor of the county building,” said Sheriff Hassel. “We’re also considering alterations like a door lock for the break room at the clerk’s office so they have a safe area where they’d be protected if something were to happen over there.”
Commissioner Mike Delp, who serves as the safety committee’s president, said the film and caulking around the windows would cost about $4,125 on the first and second floors. The door locks at the clerk’s office, in addition to some electrical work, could cost around $7,000. Delp requested $11,500 out of the fund budgeted for security cameras to fund these upgrades.
It was also suggested that $22,000 come from that same fund to install film and caulking on the first floor of the county building.
The county council members seem to support the projects and will consider the funding requests during their July meeting.
