Principals Deliver End-of-Year News to John Glenn School Board

The four building principals within the John Glenn School Corporation gave end-of-the-year remarks to the John Glenn School Board members this week.

Walkerton Elementary School Principal Tim Davis shared that 37 students recorded perfect attendance this school year. Each of those students received a t-shirt to honor that recognition. Meanwhile, North Liberty Elementary School Principal Randy Romer presented honor roll student names to the board and noted that those sixth grade students with perfect honor roll from fourth grade to sixth grade were honored during a celebration breakfast.

Urey Middle School Principal Mark Maudlin reported that on May 18 upcoming seventh grade students participated in orientation activities such as building tours and locker practice. Several businesses in town donated money for items or gave certificates to students as prizes for attending orientation. The middle school choirs were recipients of the ISSMA All Music Award, one of 12 middle schools awarded this distinction. He also spotlighted eighth grade students who volunteered time to build a wooden bench that can be seen between the gym and the cafeteria as students and guests enter the school.

John Glenn High School Principal William Morton submitted a report that was read aloud by Secretary Lisa Sleek which noted that the high school also received an ISSMA All Music Award. The high school was one of 11 high schools in the state awarded a total all music department award. Also, students participating in the Automotive Technology program hold a total of 35 ASE certifications.

The board commented that the graduation ceremony was a great experience and were impressed by the speakers and music the students performed.
