Culver Town Council Delays Ordinance Readings Concerning PUD

The Culver Town Council members Tuesday night agreed to delay the third and final readings on ordinances that would rezone parcels on State Road 17 and State Road 10 for a Planned Unit Development as well as an ordinance annexing those parcels.

The action was delayed because a Planned Unit Development agreement has not been reached between the town and Developer Thomas Beste. Apparently, there are a few issues to be worked out, but those were not clearly spoken during the meeting. They will, however, be noted in a future meeting.

Beste asked that the rezoning ordinance be passed Tuesday night and delay the annexation ordinance, but Town Manager Jonathan Leist said it made more sense to have the agreement in place and then approve the corresponding ordinances at the same time. Leist noted that the town council would be better off knowing that there is an agreement in writing that everyone supports before they move forward with any governing ordinances.

With that, the ordinances, along with the agreement, will be discussed and acted upon during the council’s next meeting on Tuesday, June 26.
