The Culver Town Council members approved additional readings of a traffic ordinance amendment at their meeting Tuesday night.
The traffic ordinance amendment designates a congested motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian area on Lakeshore Drive and signage will be placed between 508 Lakeshore Drive east to 824 Lakeshore Drive. The ordinance also creates a no parking zone for 50 feet from the intersection on both sides of the street at the corner of Batabano and South Plymouth Street from the intersection to the west of Batabono and to the south on Plymouth Street.
There will be no parking allowed on the east side of Ohio Street from Davis to Mill Street and no parking on either side of Ohio Street from Washington Street to Jefferson Street.
The final portion of the ordinance bans semi-truck and trailer parking on residential streets. Semi trucks and trailers may be parked on private property in residential zones. Semi-truck idling time is restricted in a residential area for no more than 15 minutes. This does not apply to the parking or standing of such a vehicle for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries from or to any building or structure located within such a zone. The same goes for vehicles delivering materials to be used for the repair, alteration or remodeling or construction of any structure for which a building permit has been obtained.
The second and third readings were unanimously approved by the council members. Joel Samuelson who was not in attendance on Tuesday previously voted against the ordinance amendment. Ginny Bess Munroe, Tammy Shafer, Sally Ricciardi, and David Beggs voted in favor of the passage of the ordinance.
