President Trump Approves Funding for Areas Affected by Flooding

President Donald Trump announced Friday that a major disaster exists in Indiana which makes federal funding available to affected residents in eight counties including Marshall County.

Grant assistance can include temporary housing and home repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property damage. Individuals and business owners will also have an opportunity to seek assistance through other federal programs.

In a press release issued by White House officials, the declaration also makes federal funding available to state and local governments and certain organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work following the flooding event. Starke County is included as an eligible county as well as La Porte County and Marshall County. Twenty-four other counties were listed.

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties may apply for assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
