Plymouth BOW Approves Truck Purchases

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members discussed two truck purchases for the utility department.

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson said bids were received and reviewed for a half-ton pickup truck for the water department. Bids were submitted from Martin Chevrolet and Oliver Ford. Davidson explained that upon review of the quotes there were four items that were not addressed on Martin’s bid which was the lower of the two by about $1,280. Three items did not meet specifications and the bid not include the fourth item. Oliver Ford did meet all of the specifications so Davidson asked the board to approve that quote. The board approved the recommendation in amount of $29,860.

Two quotes came in for a one ton dump truck for the wastewater department. Oliver Ford submitted a bid of $64,041 which included a trade-in while National Auto Fleet submitted a quote of $71,260 with no trade-in. Several items did not meet specifications with the quote from National Auto Fleet. Davidson recommended awarding the quote to Oliver Ford which received a unanimous vote.

In addition, letter of recommendation for the West Lake Avenue water main extension was discussed. Davidson said he reviewed the project with Midwestern Engineers and found that TBG Unlimited in South Bend was the lowest responsive and most responsible bidder. The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the bid for the project in the amount of $124,502.40.
